Cummingston is a small village between Burghead and Hopeman. The beach is not well known and it is not signposted from the road – but is one of Moray’s best kept secrets. There’s a short stretch of sand surrounded by beautiful rock formations and caves. The cliffs are popular with rock climbers practising their art.
Directions: On entering Cummingston, turn into Seaview road, then left and follow the road round to the car park next to the choldren’s play area. There is a fairly steep descent to the beach from the car park.
There are toilet facilities but take picnic supplies as the nearest shops are in Burghead and Hopeman. There is a pleasant walk along a smooth path to either Hopeman Beach (east) or Burghead Beach (west). This is a coastal walk and the dolphins of the Moray Firth are often spotted.
